How We Met
Mr. Big and I met online through a free dating website - and my family just about had a heart attack when they found out! I found it pretty fitting for a girl who is obsessed with technology and gadgets. I had actually found the site way back in high school when the novelty quizzes were still all the rage on Facebook, and was just curious to see what kind of people inhabited those sites. I never took it seriously, and actually forgot about it for a few years until I received a "We miss you, check out these creepers looking at your profile!" email and my ego got the best of me. A couple months later, Mr. Big (who wasn't taking the site seriously either, though he had been on a couple dates with girls he had met there) worked up the courage to send me a sweet and simple "hello", and the rest is history.
How He Proposed
Mr. Big is bad at keeping secrets. Terrible, really. So it was no surprise to me that he kept dropping minor hints at how/when he was going to propose. I'm nosy by nature, so I liked to take these opportunities to make guesses and gauge his reaction. By about a month before he proposed, I had it pretty much narrowed down to a date and place. :) The only mystery left was how. So January 1, 2010, we went about our day as normal...got all dressed up in the late afternoon and headed out. Mr. Big and I drove down to the place we went on our second date, a place that held meaning for us. Big didn't beat around the bush, and promptly led me to a little alcove that was close to our hearts - it was the place where he first told me he loved me. We cuddled for a few minutes (it was cold outside, even in Texas!), Big said a few words, and then got down on one knee and opened up a little box with this beauty...
The picture simply doesn't do it justice! It sparkles when the light catches it...I love it. :) Big had it engraved with the word "toujours", which is French for always. (I love French).
